It helps a lot if you have an idea of the topics/fandom stuff you want to talk about, and other accounts to follow on here. Like 50% of my posts are Classic Who related atm and there's a decent community for that on here so its been a good jumping off point.

There are friending memes too like addme_fandom if you wanna try to make more connections that way.

And honestly, using a form of social media that encourages more long-form writing has really been a net positive all around for me imo.
